Covid: How do I get the vaccine and will I need a booster?

Those with severely weakened immune systems who are over 12 should be given a third Covid vaccine, experts say.

Everyone aged 16 and over in the UK can already receive the Covid vaccine.

Will I get a booster jab?

This includes those with blood cancer, advanced HIV and recent organ or stem-cell transplants – who make up less than less than 1% of the population.

Health Secretary Sajid Javid said people would be contacted “as soon as possible, to discuss their needs and arrange an appointment for a third dose”.

He said the separate booster programme prioritising those most at risk from Covid-19 was still planned to begin in September.

It suggested a booster jab could be offered alongside the flu vaccine.

However an exact start date has not yet been set, and we don’t know whether the booster scheme will be extended to all adults.

Whether all 12- to 15-year-olds will be offered a vaccine is yet to be decided.

Morepen Labs jumps 11% on transfer of medical devices biz to subsidiary, Health News, ET HealthWorld

New Delhi: Shares of Morepen Laboratories rallied as much as 11 per cent in early trade on Thursday after the company announced to transfer its medical devices business to a subsidiary.

According to a BSE filing, the pharmaceuticals firm will transfer the medical equipment business to a wholly-owned subsidiary by allotment of equity shares of Rs 10 each.

The revenues and profits derived from the new subsidiary will be consolidated in the parent company, Morepen Laboratories Limited, the filing added. However, the company will seek regulatory approval for the same.

Following the update, shares of Morepen Laboratories rallied 11 per cent to Rs 56.95 on Thursday before trading at Rs 54.90 at 10.50 am. BSE Sensex was trading 166.9 points, or 0.3 per cent, higher at 57,505.11 at the same time.

The pharmaceutical business of the company contributes Rs 834.91 crore or 74.27 per cent of revenue, whereas the company derives 289.29 crore or 25.73 per cent revenue from the medical device segment.
