The virus has been infecting less than one lakh people over the last 47 days. The case tally has been pushed to 3,13,71,901 and the death toll has reached 4,20,551. The current recovery rate is 97.36%, the bulletin added.
With 39,972 recoveries in 24 hours, the active caseload in the country currently stands at 4,08,212. A total of 3,05,43,138 people have so far recovered from the disease. Active Covid cases at present constitute 1.30 per cent of India’s case tally.
At 2.24%, the weekly positivity rate has remained below 5%. The daily positivity rate, at 2.31 per cent, continued to stay less than 3 per cent for the 34th consecutive day.
The health ministry also said that testing capacity in the country has been substantially ramped up, with a total of 45.62 crore tests having been conducted till date.
A total of 43,31,50,864 vaccine doses have been administered in India under the nationwide vaccination drive so far, the bulletin stated. As many as 45,37,70,580 vaccine doses have been provided to the states and UTs so far, through all sources and a further 11,79,010 doses are in the pipeline, the ministry said. According to data available at 8am on Sunday, the total consumption including wastages is 42,08,32,021 doses.
Over 3,29,38,559 balance and unutilised Covid vaccine doses are still available with the states, UTs and private hospitals to be administered, the Union ministry also said.
The government release also stated that in the new phase of the universalisation of the vaccination drive, it will procure and supply 75 per cent of vaccines being produced by the vaccine manufacturers in the country free of cost to the states and UTs.
